Toy Age Guide Finder
The best toy is one that matches what a child is learning right now. Enter your child's age in months or years to see the stage they are in, toy types that usually fit, and what is coming next. Every child grows at their own pace, so use this as a guide and always check the age label on the box.
How it works
- Ages are grouped into common development stages used by toy makers and child development guides
- Each stage lists toy types that support what children are usually practising at that age
- "Coming next" shows the following stage, handy for gifts that last
Open-ended toys like blocks, dolls and art supplies tend to be played with for years, not weeks.
Three things this tool can't see
- Your child's pace. Children grow at different speeds. Follow your child's interests.
- Safety labels. Toys with small parts are not for under-3s. Check age labels, safety marks and recalls.
- Special needs. Ask your child's therapist or teacher for toys that suit them best.
